Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven named Power Partner of the Year

Generation Power CT (GPCT) named us, Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven, their Power Partner of the Year. This award recognizes partners that go above and beyond to strengthen their communities through collaboration, compassion, and a commitment to sustainable solutions.

This year, HomeEnergy ConneCT partnered with GPCT to launch the Gas Assistance Program (GAP), which helps income-eligible residents achieve long-term energy and cost savings through weatherization-readiness support and energy efficiency upgrades.  By addressing health and safety barriers such as mold, asbestos, and knob and tube wiring, the program helps residents overcome issues that often halt energy-efficiency upgrades before they begin. Addressing these concerns at no cost to the homeowner not only makes homes safer; it also unlocks additional financial resources and programs that many families wouldn’t otherwise be able to access.

GAP also supports residents with aging or failing HVAC systems by providing upgrades to modern, energy-efficient equipment, including air source heat pumps and heat-pump water heaters. These improvements help families save money and be more comfortable in their homes.

Thanks to this partnership, the program has already made an impact on 39 Connecticut households. We’re grateful for this recognition and proud to work alongside partners who share our commitment to energy affordability and sustainability.
