Our Impact
A holistic approach to neighborhood revitalization that addresses the needs and preferences of neighborhood residents with the direct services and engagement that our staff is committed to providing. Our Mission
Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven strengthens neighborhoods by developing affordable housing and increasing homeownership opportunities; providing homebuyer education and financial coaching; making homes safe, beautiful and energy efficient; and working to improve the perceptions of the neighborhoods in which we are working by helping residents take charge of their communities.
Join us to empower families and strengthen neighborhoods!
In 2023, we celebrated 44 years of service to the City of New Haven! Without your support over the years, our steady progress toward a more equitable and sustainable New Haven with increased homeownership opportunities would not be possible.
AFFORDABLE HOMEOWNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
We have renovated 297 distressed homes to historic standards.
Since 1979, we have helped 526 families in underserved neighborhoods of New Haven move into beautiful, renovated housing.

COMMUNITY SUSTAINABILITY
From January 2022 – June 2023, we engaged 374 new participants, bringing the total to 648 participants from 114 of 268 Connecticut zip code areas.
To date, $2.5 million worth of home improvements have been undertaken, thanks to I Heart My Home CT’s capacity to leverage and help residents deploy multiple sources of financing to support the work in their homes. These improvements range from health and safety barrier remediation, to weatherization, home electrification, and solar plus storage projects.

It can be on a larger or smaller scale, but being able to interact with all sorts of people that I would never have in the first place is really nice.
Local leaders have graduated from yearly Resident Leadership Program training.
Network of Community Advocacy
Our approach to community building focuses on engagement and empowerment. We encourage residents to take charge of their neighborhoods, to create block parties, organize street clean-ups and reach out to neighbors.
