Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the easiest way for donors to give?
Monthly giving. When individuals become monthly donors, you don’t have to continually solicit them, and they don’t have to give the transaction a second thought until they file their taxes in April.
Are all donations to NHS tax deductible?
Tax deductible donations are contributions of money or goods to a tax-exempt organization such as a 501(c)(3) organization. Tax deductible donations can reduce taxable income.
Every donation to NHS of New Haven is tax deductible. Always. Every time. No exceptions.
How often will I need to ask for money?
That depends on the type of fundraising we need at the time and on our agreement with you.
What if I’m not comfortable asking for money?
Then you may want to consider supporting NHS of New Haven in another way, like making a personal donation or volunteering.
Should I give my donors a shoutout on Facebook?
Only if they want that kind of recognition. Some donors prefer to remain anonymous. Make sure you know what they want before you put their name up in lights.
What if a donor wants their money to be used only for one purpose?
It’s our pleasure to honor that request. Every donor has the right to see their gifts used for the purposes they are given.
Where can I learn more about fundraising ethics and philanthropy?
