We envision a New Haven where all neighborhoods are vibrant and safe, and all residents are thriving in beautiful, dignified homes.
Our comprehensive neighborhood revitalization strategy has historically begun with the acquisition and gut-rehabilitation of uninhabitable properties. With the financial assistance of local and state subsidies, we have been able to transform these properties into energy-efficient homes that help to improve the overall curb appeal of the surrounding houses.
OUR IMPACT ON NEW HAVEN
Affordability
We teach homeowners how to prevent surprise repair bills by caring for their home, and how to budget for expected maintenance costs, so they can afford their home long term.
Beauty
Over the past 43 years, we’ve renovated nearly 300 distressed homes to historic standards. In doing so, we’ve provided beautiful, dignified housing for more than 500 families.
Stability
In New Haven, only 43% of residents can afford their housing costs, which puts them at risk. That doesn’t work for us, so we price NHS homes below our renovation costs.
EVERYONE DESERVES A SAFE AND BEAUTIFUL HOME
We spend as much as $475,000 to purchase, demolish the interior down to the framing, fully rehab, and landscape a two-family home. Then we sell it for about $225,000. We’re passionate about empowering families and revitalizing neighborhoods. Would you like to help?
