COMMUNITY SUSTAINABILITY
Since 2020, HomeEnergy ConneCT has proudly served over 1,400 Connecticut residents, helping more than 1,900 households upgrade their energy systems and create healthier, more energy-efficient homes.
To date, $4.2 million worth of home improvements have been undertaken, thanks to HomeEnergy ConneCT’s capacity to leverage and help residents deploy multiple sources of financing to support the work in their homes. These improvements range from health and safety barrier remediation, to weatherization, home electrification, and solar plus storage projects.
COMMUNITY BUILDING & ORGANIZING
RESIDENT LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
The primary goals of this program are to transfer concrete leadership skills to New Haven residents, create a space for participants to share their experiences with one another and increase their sense of being agents of change. One key to achieving these goals starts with the fundamental belief that participants and the communities they represent are assets. Oftentimes leadership programs are built to fill in the “missing gaps” in emerging leaders rather than to hone the strengths they already possess or allow time to build confidence and skills. This program aims to change that paradigm.
VOLUNTEERS
VOLUNTEER HOURS
It can be on a larger or smaller scale, but being able to interact with all sorts of people that I would never have in the first place is really nice.
Local leaders have graduated from yearly Resident Leadership Program training.
Network of Community Advocacy
Our approach to community building focuses on engagement and empowerment. We encourage residents to take charge of their neighborhoods, to create block parties, organize street clean-ups and reach out to neighbors.
