We’re excited to announce our next set of affordable homeownership projects: four new two-family homes to be built on Winchester Avenue, Winthrop Avenue, Thompson Street, and Howard Avenue.
Two of the homes will be built with traditional heating and cooling systems, while the other two will be fully electric, featuring solar panels and high-efficiency heat pumps. By taking this side-by-side approach, we’ll be able to compare construction costs, utility savings, and homeowner satisfaction — gaining valuable insight into the future of energy-efficient housing.
Thanks to support from the State Housing Tax Credit program, the Connecticut Department of Housing, and the City of New Haven HOME funds, these projects are almost ready to move forward without the need for zoning variances. Construction is expected to begin this fall. Even more exciting: each home already has a future homeowner lined up, ready to put down roots and begin the next chapter of their lives.
These projects will continue our mission of expanding affordable, sustainable homeownership opportunities in New Haven.
Stay tuned! We look forward to sharing updates as the foundations are poured, the walls go up, and these houses become homes.
