NeighborWorks Week 2025

Celebrating NeighborWorks Week in Newhallville

NeighborWorks Week for June of 2025 was all about collaboration, community pride, and connection.

KeyBank Volunteering in the Gardens

We kicked things off with nearly 20 incredible volunteers from KeyBank, who joined us in a local community garden to support neighborhood beautification efforts. Their energy and partnership demonstrate the power of strong relationships between financial institutions and community organizations like ours.

Peace Garden Support

Midweek, our team pitched in at the Peace Garden—delivering soil and supporting ongoing revitalization efforts at this symbolic and healing space. We received this wonderful testimonial, “Thanks to NHS for your generous donation! Bell’s delivered soil to the Peace Garden this morning and we were able to spread it into our new Mother’s Garden plot. The Peace Garden is looking great thanks to our wonderful community partners and their generosity!” — Aaron Goode (You can read more about this project in the New Haven Independent here.)

Freddy Fixer Bus Tour

To wrap things up, we were honored to participate in the inaugural Freddy Fixer After Party Bus Tour, led by Kim Harris of Inspired Communities. Following the historic parade, guests boarded buses for a guided tour of inspiring neighborhood spaces, including NHS’s own STREET Garden. We were proud to help design the event flyer, host visitors at our site, and participate in conversations that continued over pizza and cake.

Together, these events showed what NeighborWorks Week is all about: celebrating community, strengthening partnerships, and building a more vibrant, resilient Newhallville.
