WAYS TO FUNDRAISE

On Facebook:
Once we approve you as a fundraiser, you’ll find fundraising on FB is easy to set up with a few clicks and keystrokes. Celebrate a special occasion with a fundraiser, or set one up anytime. Donations go right to NHS New Haven’s account.

On Instagram:
Once your application is approved, map your support base, use our suggested hashtags and new ones we devise together, post IG Stories, and create beautiful media.

In Real Life:
If you’re a social butterfly, this is your jam. Consider the kind of event you’d like to host, then get in touch, and we’ll work out the details with you.

Via Email:
If you have a list and you love to share, fundraising via email is as simple as forwarding the emails we send you.

WHAT FUNDRAISING MEANS TO NHS

Fundraising means creating affordable housing for hundreds of families, beautifying neighborhoods for all residents to enjoy, and much-needed homebuyer and homeowner education and counseling. We have a 40-year history of bringing people together from all economic strata to revitalize the city’s underserved communities. We envision a New Haven where all neighborhoods are vibrant and safe, and all residents are thriving in beautiful, dignified homes. With your help, we can make this vision a reality!

Freequently Asked Questions

What’s the easiest way for donors to give?

Monthly giving. When individuals become monthly donors, you don’t have to continually solicit them, and they don’t have to give the transaction a second thought until they file their taxes in April.

Are all donations to NHS tax deductible?

Always. Every time. No exceptions.

How often will I need to ask for money?

That depends on the type of fundraising we need at the time and on our agreement with you.

What if a prospect wants to see NHS New Haven’s financial statements?

Of course! We are happy to make these documents available upon request.

What if I’m not comfortable asking for money?

Then you may want to consider supporting NHS New Haven in another way, like making a personal donation or volunteering.

Should I give my donors a shoutout on Facebook?

Only if they want that kind of recognition. Some donors prefer to remain anonymous. Make sure you know what they want before you put their name up in lights.

What if a donor wants their money to be used only for one purpose?

It’s our pleasure to honor that request. Every donor has the right to see their gifts used for the purposes they are given.

Where can I learn more about fundraising ethics and philanthropy?
