Charles A. Gulliver, a carriage-maker, built this house as his permanent residence in 1867. Starting out as a relatively modest home in the Gothic Revival-style, the house acquired grand features over the years, such as a stately tower, a bay window, and roomier additions, all of which combined to give the house its more complex shape.
