Built during the height of the Queen Anne architectural era, this house was constructed in late 1896 and early 1897 for William Stokes, a worker at the Winchester Repeating Arms factory. 27 Bassett became a true home to Stokes, as he raised his family here and resided here with his wife until well into their twilight years. Since then, a number of families have thrived under the eaves of this home.
